Metacognitive Strategies on Reading English Texts of Non-English Majored Students at Dong Nai Technology University, Vietnam: A Mixed Design

The goal of this study is to see if there a link between the usage metacognitive reading strategies by non-English major students and their comprehension performance. This research was conducted at Dong Nai Technology University with 70 ranging in age from 19 22 years old. Both quantitative qualitative data were used investigation. These asked complete TOEIC test assess ability, followed Metacognitive Awareness Reading Strategies Inventory (MARSI) (Mokhtari & Reichard, 2002) use. Semi-structured interviews four high scorers low sample acquire data. findings demonstrated that students' strategy use moderate level, most frequent least they are Problem-solving Global strategies, respectively. Additionally, it found more proficient readers frequently, successfully, appropriately than less vice versa. Some results also mentioned. have some implications for both teachers employ appropriate second language acquisition.
